What to do while you wait for us
A blockage gets worse with every litre you add to it. These few steps limit the mess and often save time once we are on site.
- Stop using sinks, showers, washing machines and toilets on that run — every litre added has nowhere to go.
- Lift the outside manhole cover if you can do it safely, and look: full chamber means the blockage is downstream of it.
- Keep children and pets away from standing waste water and from any open chamber.
- Move anything valuable off the floor of a garage, basement or ground-floor room at risk of flooding.
- Skip the caustic drain chemicals. They rarely shift a real blockage and make the drain unpleasant to work on.
- Note what was happening when it started — gurgling, slow draining, a smell — it helps us bring the right kit.
