Drain Surveys Across Fife
CCTV and pre purchase drain surveys across Fife, from Inverkeithing and Dunfermline through Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly to Kirkcaldy, Burntisland and Kinghorn.
- 1You ring and speak to an engineer, not an answering service.
- 2We tell you honestly when we can be with you in Fife and what it is likely to cost.
- 3We jet or rod the drain, clear it, then show you the cause on camera before we leave.
Fife is a straight run for us over the Queensferry Crossing, and west and central Fife are part of our normal working week. Most of the survey work we do here is either a buyer whose home report flagged drainage, or an owner who has paid to clear the same drain more than once and wants to know why.
The county's housing stock makes both common. The former mining towns at Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Kelty have terraced streets on original clay drainage, often with shared rear runs. The coastal towns at Burntisland, Kinghorn and Inverkeithing have older stone property, salt exposed and much altered. Kirkcaldy has everything from Victorian tenements to large modern estates. Dunfermline has expanded so fast that new and very old sit side by side.
We own our camera equipment and carry jetting gear on the same van. If a run has to be cleaned before it can be inspected, that happens in the same visit.

What a survey answers
- Why the same drain keeps blocking
- Whether a pipe is cracked, displaced or collapsed
- Where roots are entering, and through what
- Whether the run has lost its fall and holds water
- Whether a defect can be lined or has to be excavated
- What the repair will actually cost
Pre purchase work
Buyers get video footage, still images, defect locations and depths, and a written report with costed repair options. That is a document you can take back to a seller with a number attached, which is worth considerably more in a negotiation than a surveyor's note recommending further investigation.
Coastal and older property
In the coastal towns we often find drainage that has been altered several times over a long life, with abandoned runs, unmapped connections and pipework crossing under later extensions. Surveying it properly is the only way to know what actually serves the property and what was left in the ground.
Fife drainage questions
Do you cover the whole of Fife?
We work across west and central Fife as standard, from Inverkeithing and Dunfermline through to Kirkcaldy and the coastal towns. Ring with your postcode and we will confirm.
How much is a CCTV drain survey in Fife?
It depends on the property, the length of the run and whether jetting is needed first. We quote before we attend, and there is no call-out charge.
Can you survey a property I have not bought yet?
Yes, with the owner's permission and access to the chambers, which is normally arranged through the selling agent.
Do you carry out the repairs too?
Yes. Patch lining, full relining and excavation are all done by us, so there is no second contractor and no repeat survey.
